Short-Term Counselling Program

Our Short-Term Counselling Program, led by experienced Registered Social Workers, is designed to support adults facing a variety of mental health and personal challenges. Before accessing our services, patients are encouraged to explore any available Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) through their employment benefits. Please note, this program does not provide crisis services but is closely integrated with primary care to provide a comprehensive, supportive environment. This service is only available to rostered patients of the Brighton Quinte West Family Health Organization.

What We Offer:

Counselling Services:

  • Assessment and Consultation: Initial comprehensive assessments to identify your needs and develop a personalized care plan.
  • Short Term Counselling: We provide six counselling sessions focused on addressing specific issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and grief or loss.
  • Information and Referral: Guidance towards appropriate community resources and help with system navigation to ensure you receive the support you need.

Appointment Details:

  • Initial Consultation: The first session lasts approximately 60 minutes, where you and the Social Worker will explore recommendations and plan the course of treatment.
  • Follow-Up Sessions: Subsequent sessions are approximately 30 minutes each, aimed at implementing the care plan and making necessary adjustments.
  • Scheduling and Availability: Appointments are typically available within four to six weeks of referral. Our reception team will contact you to schedule your first appointment once the referral is received.
  • Confidentiality: All personal health information is kept confidential, documented in your medical record, and shared with your Primary Care Provider. Any limitations to sharing information can be discussed during your first visit.
